MiCultura celebrates International Book Day

Panama April 22, 2020. - The Ministry of Culture celebrates International Day of Book and Language on April 23 with different virtual activities that include reading and photos from your favorite corner, videos sharing book lines and tributes to writers who leave prints in the country.

Daniel Dominguez, national director of the arts of MiCultura, explained that "in quarantine, reading is a very effective tool to think and spend time reading," and so he propose to conduct a challenges of reading that come together in a video so that as they are published, each person will appear reading the first lines of the first page of the work "I Do Not belong to this century," winner of the novel category at the 1991 Ricardo Miró contest, written by Rosa María Britton.

For its part, from the Office for the Promotion of Reading at the Ministry of Culture, an invitation to have public share with social networks the reading corner where you spend quarantine days reading and interacting and sharing photos or videos.

Carlos Fong, Cultural Promoter of MiCultura, stated that in times of imprisonment, reading can be a balm to reflect and spend time reading what we want. "At these times of a pandemic and as anxiety and uncertainty may be pounding our reading can be that remedy to face many emotions," she emphasized.
