Following an economic contribution from Fondocine of the Ministry of Culture, the film "Cotito" that tells about the massacre that occurred in Panamanian Highlands in 1941, against a comune of German Swiss settlers, was completed.

The film project "Cotito" for its presentation became a credit to a money backup by MiCultura and is scheduled to be released by midyear.

The documentary was directed by Martín Contreras and produced by elías Jiménez and was also supported by SERTV, COPA AIRLINES and the Mayor's Office of Panama.

That film production "Cotito" was filmed at locations in Panama City and Highlands in the province of Chiriquí and as his director explained, it came about as "years ago, working at the National Library, a book entitled Holocaust in Panama fell into my hands."

The filmmaker added that he initiated an investigation that led him to discover hundreds of details about European migration from the interwar period to Latin America and especially to Panama.

Currently, the project is currently undergoing production with the editor Aldo Rey Valderrama ("Kimura," "Panama in a Day," "Panama Radio," "The Fourth Power" and "La Estado Seca") and is expected to have the film completed by mid 2022, so as to start the circuit of national and international festivals.
