The magic of his story and his characters and his universal music by Tchaikovski and his spectacular choreography have transformed "El Cascanueces" into a Christmas classic par excellence, and that's part of the agenda put forward by Panama's National Ballet every December.
With about 30 dancers at a stage with an opportunity for a ballet, this production with an extraordinary narrative built through the beauty and elegance of a ballet, an ideal work for an audience of all ages and with a leading role to be brought to the stage by our National Ballet, on Christmas Eve.
Through the MiCultura's Section of The Arts, Panama's National Ballet held this stage on December 16 and 17 at La Huaca Theater while on December 22 she will come to Omar Reparative Park as part of a "Christmas of Illusion" in conjunction with the First Lady's Office.
The work of El Cascanutias is a story that begins at the house of a respected judge, his wife and his two sons, Clara and Fritz, who conduct a Christmas party with an invitation to Clare's best man, the magician Drosselmeyer, a manufacturer of watches and fantastic mechanical toys, who brings as a gift to Clare a beautiful doll in the form of cucoutias.
Clara, she's immersed in a profound dream where her cuckold gets alive, and she's leading to magic spots across the snow, the sweet realm, and fighting with an army of the King of Ratons, and dancing with the Russians, the Chinese and other characters that make this stage an excellent story to enjoy with families.
The main protagonics were performed by: Juan Carlos Costoya, as Drosselmeyer, Andrea Diaz in the role of Clare, Edgar Santamaria delight the public as the Castanutias, while Juliet del Castillo, Yahyr Castro, Nazario Johnson, Abdiel Bonilla and Angel Rodriguez were Sugar Fairy, Prince, Mouse King, mice respectively.
Gloria Barrios, Executive Director of the National Ballet stated that "with this Suite of the Cascanueces we have closed with a golden clasp this season 2021 that has brought news, as we have been re-invented in the pandemic, we have been able to keep our dancers trained and motivated, a year of great work and many events and what has allowed us to get through and prepare for the golden weddings of the National Ballet where we come with a program prepared for the public that always goes with us."
The next performance of the National Ballet will be next Wednesday, December 22, at Omar Reg Park as part of an Illusion Christmas with the First Lady's office.
