MiCultura extends its call period to select the contemporary dance artistic director of the National Dance Company.

Panama, 8 April 2020. The Ministry of Culture extends the period of call for persons who aspire to the artistic direction of the contemporary dance Section of the National Dance Company.

Yilca Arosemena, deputy director of the arts, explained that the date of submission of documentation from those interested in the artistic direction of contemporary dance extends the period another month to get all proposals from the applicants.

To date, proposals have been received to satisfy the requirements required by the ministry and it is hoped that, for this extension, we will have as many interested parties as they choose to conduct the contemporary dance section.

The Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, calls upon all Panamanian by birth or naturalization, living in Panama or outside the country and performing as dance professionals, to continue to participate in this call, so as to select the best candidate for artistic director.

The requirements for this position are: to be older, to have formal studies in classical dance with a minimum of 6 years and in contemporary dance with a minimum of 5 (5) years, as well as have an artistic track record and management experience and public or private dance institutions or companies at home or abroad.

For this important selection, the Jury will integrate suitable professionals into the area of classical and contemporary dance, and they will evaluate applications, conduct interviews and if necessary request participants to conduct a sample of their performing talent. If there are no suitable candidates, the contest can be declared deserted.
