The Bicentennial Torch with Cultural Activities

With the surrender of the "Torcha de la Libertad" 200 wishes for Panama to Jorge Herrera, mayor of Aguadulce District, Coclé began his celebration throughout the course of this "banners" commemorative to the Bicentennial of the Independence of Panama of Spain, where she will be up to November 23 as she arrives at the district of Anton after passing through Nata and Penonomé earlier.

The Bicentennial Torch tour: "200 wishes for Panama" or "of freedom" as some call it began last November 13th from the Heroica Villa de Los Santos, place where the first cry of Independence came about and where the idea of a Torch was born by local authorities.

Before arriving at Aguadulce, first district of the province of Coclé, the torch was received in the districts of Chitre, Parita, Santa María, in Herrera and Santiago in the province of Veraguas.

The Sierra Rican Burgomaster, Jorge Herrera, said at his Torch that we "united through that flame to make this celebration a great event and write about how Panamanians celebrate these 200 years in history."

In the district of Aguadulce, the town's head reported that the Torcha will be brought to the eight cordments starting with the United Peoples, following the Roble and The Christ, St. John of God, Virgen del Carmen, Pocri and Aguadulce headquarters ending at Barrio Unas, to surrender him to Natá at the bridge over the Pocri River.

The 18-inch Torch has a flame that does not represent a danger to those who manipulate and is mounted on a metal structure with an height of 1 meter and will be transport by a car of the Benemérit Fire Corps to Panama City with a range of activities planned between the districts of San Miguelito and Panama that will include a two-hundredth gala, an exhibition of gangs, recognition of outstanding personalities, artistic performances and other attractions to family delight.

It should be noted that the Torcha's tour is only one of the many activities organized by the National Commission that includes the re-editing of literary works that count on the gestures and processes and consolidation of Panama's independence from Spain, forums, literary competitions, Galas de la Orquesta Sympónica and theater and ballet performances among others.

During this significant cultural event, the mayor's office of Aguadulce gave recognition to ten personalities who have been and continue to leave their prints in the district of Aguadulce, as a result of their contributions to the arts, teaching and transmission of customs and traditions as they are: Arnulfo Beltran, Abdiel García, Norman José Nuñez, elsy García, Elena Mendieta, Ormelis González, Carlos Lee Lasha, Carlos Delgado, Gilberto Agustín Pinzzo, Alexis Carrión and Justo Carvajal Carrión, to the latter correspondent Gabriel González, Minister of Culture, to conduct his surrender.

The cultural evening organized by the municipality had a varied program that included a display of pyrotechnic fires, Latin Dance, ITIA Folkloric Mosaic Set, the music band of the ITIA, Viva Panama Folkloric Projection Set, 10th Bicentennial by Alexis Castro, Raúl Aparicio and its ensemble, among other presentations.

The mural "Camino a Aguadulce" was also presented by local artist Manuel Ledezma, who embodies the most distinctive elements of this sector of the country as sugarcane, fishing, livestock, salt extraction and outstanding personalities such as Stella Sierra, Octavio Méndez Pereira and Rodolfo Chiari.

That idea of the people of La Villa in the voice of his Mayor Maximilian Amaya was welcomed by the Commission of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Panama of Spain, to make this activity an event at national level sharing that symbol of sharing these feelings of patriotism, of struggle, of freedom, of peace and of the desire to continue to work for a country with aspirations and the furtherance of a strong and working people that doesn't surrender and that always goes forward, stated Gabriel González, Vice Minister of Culture at the welcome event developed at Park 19 October in Aguadulce.
