Unión Interinstitutiaria, manages to present an exhibition of African Art

"Art Africa, The Spirit of the Ancestors," an art exhibition that seeks to highlight African culture and its impact on our history.
The exhibition has been supported by MiCultura, El Mides, La ATP, La Alcaldía de Panama, El BID and the French embassy in Panama, a number of institutions that united their efforts to be free to display to the public these historic pieces belonging to the art collector, Guillermo Martínez Castro.
The exhibition includes 196 pieces from The Democratic Republic of congo, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mali, Ivory Coast, Closed Leone, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, Angola and Ghana. 196 works showing the different artistic trends of the different ages of the African continent, works that highlight African traditions, lifestyles, thought and customs.
The Vice Minister of Culture, Gabriel González, stated that "The exhibition" Art Africa, the Spirit of the Ancestors, "is a physical expression of history and invention, enabling us to get close to African culture, a culture from which we in America are so united, so united and so close. The pieces that make up this sample speak about African men and women, their traditions and customs, their aspirations and their achievements."
All the original works and they are the result of a work of more than 25 years of collection performed by the passionate art collector, Guillermo Martínez Castro.
The opening ceremony featured an African fashion gateway by fashion designer Jean Decort and the presentation of the Rastafari Alliance of Panama at the ribbon cut and Kings's dances at the Mé Foundation and the Contemporary African Dance at Tambor to the water realm by Demetrio Ortiz.
On the other hand, the General Director of the Secretary General for Afro-Panamanian Development, Krishna Camarena stated that the collection will be available to the public at a time of 10: 00 a.m. to 6: 00 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday, from Thursday, November 11, to December 24, with the exhibition at the lobby at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture at the Casco Antiguo and at the Juan Manuel Cedeño Gallery.
