The National Commission of the Bicentennial of Panama's Independence of Spain and the Spanish Ministry of Culture with the support of the National Assembly have been instrumental and have been represented by the book "Comarca de los Manitos: tieses de la tierra, tradesas and puras" by Rodrigo Núñez Quintero.

The event was held at the main headquarters of the Ministry of Culture and was chaired by the deputy minister, Gabriel González, who referred to the reissue of this work that was first published in 1965 and said that "it constitutes a piece of literary collection of our country, that we appreciate and cherish as a family relic in hundreds of Panamanian households."

"Comarca de los Manitos" ("Comarca de los Manitos") is a work that tells about the stories about peasants that face witches and dogs that capture cheesebooks, that would have been the delights of Rafael Pombo and Augusto Monterroso, said González.

He added that his accounts about the socorro and the guaracha, about Don Chepe's Rooster and about an avaro merchant who came out his face and told us about our species's oldest feelings: love, sadness, fear, envy, affection and admiration. "

The Manitos region also invites us to reflect on the identity, not only of men and women from the province of Herrera but of all Panama.

At his presentation about his reissue, his deputy minister González felt that "his care and respect for his people are remarkable as his share with us about how his fairs were at the Plaza del Tamarindo, while his words remind us that his tenths are poems that have been sung and that his best man, Cheto Marín, have his skills."
