In the framework of the Bicentennial and at the initiative of the National Government through the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the Tourism Authority (ATP), the National Council of China's Etnia and with the support of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, they united to advance the celebration of the Chinese New Year, "Spring Festival" as an event that will extend throughout the national territory.

That decision of state investment means recognition of the contribution of the Chinese community to our identities, diversity and cultural and economic lives. That's why this administration incorporates this celebration into the cultural and tourist calendar of the country from 2022 onwards with the celebration of the "Year of Tiger."

In this respect, Cultural Minister Carlos Aguilar Navarro expressed that "this year we celebrate our history and diversity of diversity and we also advance to that great goal of having vaccinated and protected our people and we wish as a legacy of this year 2021 to leave China's New Year as an event where Asian cultural diversity will be the stage for bringing families and friends from neighbouring countries. And while Panama will have no spring, we will be able to connect with that station, that symbolizes hope and the renaissance of life," said Aguilad Navarro.

He also noted that the "General Law of Culture has as one of its pillars respect for cultural rights that this includes recognizing the memory and heritage of all human groups that integrate us into the collection of identities that we are.

To do so, cultural policies at their best should help to promote the local but also be able to connect with the global, in this so interconnected world, "added Aguilar Navarro.

The complete calendar, that starts on January 13th and culminates on February 20th, will include concerts, folk and artistic performances, artisan markets, fireworks and traditional Chinese dragons and lions, comet festival, dragon boat championship, gastronomic festivals, lectures and other activities.

They are added to these, the traffic circuits at commercial centers of the city, incorporated into the celebration with their own activities and dedicated to honor the Chinese heritage and to re-activate the national economy.

Those activities will be undertaken only in the capital district but at several points of the Republic, thanks to Chinese associations throughout the national territory.

The event will bring together a contribution from the Panamanian state and with the Chinese community to be able to build a calendar of nearly a month's activity and achieve with them to energize and enhance the communication of the activities that the community has been performing from time to time.

For his part, Wei Qiang, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Panama, expressed his gratitude to the government authorities that have been united for this festival for their sponsorship and organization of these activities that with the valuable support of the different associations of the Chinese Community of Panama will greatly enrich the Panamanian celebration of the new Chinese year which, as its version of the tiger, as a folk festival the most traditional and ancient of China.

It's a joy for the Chinese Embassy to be part of an initiative of cultural and high-scale interchange as we have today in brotherhood and we emphasize that we are proud to work with tenor and enthusiasm and cultural interchange between China and Panama, and this will be an excellent opportunity for cultural participation and enjoyment for the Chinese communities and with more intense enthusiasm for all our citizens.
