Actors, Interpreters and members of the audiovisual industry will benefit from the Beijing Treaty

With the presence of the Minister of Culture (MiCultura), Carlos Aguilar Navarro, who was accompanied by the national director of copyright, Idania Fernández, the full of the National Assembly adopted in third debate Bill 675 approving the Beijing Treaty on the Protection of Audiovisual Reforms and Executions adopted by the Diplomatic Conference on this issue.

The plenary unanimously adopted an international instrument adopted by the World Intellectual Property Organization in 2012 at a summit held in Beijing, China to which 42 countries of the world have already joined.

The Treaty of Beijing entered into force in April of last year and through it guarantees and recognizes the moral and property rights of audiovisual actors, interpreters and performers and at the same time improves their employment and social and economic status, promotes more investment in audiovisual sectors and protects our folklore.

Panama has a law that is Act 64 of 2012 on copyright and related rights that includes all these guarantees and with the Beijing Treaty this protection will be complemented outside our territory, in all 42 countries parties.

One of the points of the treaty states that the treaty "will contribute to safeguard the rights of performing and performing artists against unauthorized use of their interpretations and executions in audiovisual media, such as television, cinema and video."
