MiCultura with a poemary that lights up indigenous women

The book "Pilgrims of the Sun" of the poet, educator and promoter of Aiban Velarde culture, is the most recent work published by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) under the seal of the Mariano Arosemena Editorial.

For Aiban Velarde "Pilgrim of the Sun" is a poeary inspired by women, and a poetic text with a singular exaltation to an indigenous woman "that we honor today and that emphasizes his important contributions to every facet of life."

"It's a song to his nature, to his body's sensuality, his spirit of brotherhood, through his word and particularly an approach to his historic memory," Velarde added.

Carlos Fong, cultural promoter of the direction of Cultural Rights and Citizenship of MiCultura emphasized that this poemary, more than a poem, is as a treaty, a song to hope, a path to a new pedagogy based on the knowledge of the earth.

During the introduction of the book, the first edition was given to indigenous women dedicated to dance, photography and science and they were their inspiration as was the case with Iguanilla López, Lois Iglesias and Sonia Henríquez.

That activity was an extension of the Poliglota project and its cultural relevance by promoting the importance of our women from the native peoples as part of the events commemorating the International Day of Indigenous Women held last September 5.

The presentation was held at the headquarters of the Ministry with the participation of Minister Carlos Aguilar Navarro and his deputy Minister Gabriel González and his directors and partners.
