They seek to extend the Orchestra Network to provinces and communities

The Minister of Culture Carlos Aguilar Navarro and his leading team met with more than 40 teachers from the different modules of the National Network of Orchestra and Youth Cores of Panama to introduce teacher Electra Castillo as new director of the network.

The regent of MiCultura highlighted the work of the teachers that are part of this program by noting that "all the work they do with children and adolescents is very important" while at the same time the teachers expressed their concerns and suggestions.

The Minister urged the new director to expand La Red to have a module or cells of youth musicians and chorus in every province and region to give them a national presence.

The new director of the Electra Castillo orchestras network undertook to support them and walk their side because "we have an opportunity and an obligation to highlight national music, challenge our composers and our people who know the music, organize concerts and make known the national identity."

During the meeting the teachers put up questions about competitions, sponsorship, recruitment, Iberorquestas program, psychological care and social work among other issues.

The teachers also reaffirmed the pandemic growth of some orchestral programs, in provinces such as Colón and Santiago de Veraguas.

Among his performances, Electra Castillo stands out as the first Panamanian woman to run the National Symphony Orchestra, and performed his studies in singing and Oboe technical from the National Conservatory of Panama and his leading director for more than 22 years from the Polyphonic Chorus of Panama, among others.
