Young Panamanian to Study Music in Italy

Five talented Panamanian youth to play musical instruments such as the trombone, viola and Fagot were selected from 30 candidates to specialist for two years at the Santa Cecilia Conversatory.

The students are Gabriel Samaniego and Omar Rosas, at Trombon, Paul Cuevas at Viola and Reynaldo Atencio at and Benjamin Enríquez at Fagot.

The choice of these five talented Panamanian people was based on an agreement of cooperation agreed between the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the Conservatory and that also involves an IFARHU fellowship.

The Jury to select the best among 30 was made up of Luis Cajar, professor at the Institute of National Music at MiCultura and Riccardo Ricardi representative of the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia, place where the youth will specialise, quieThey have taken into account the talent, discipline, artistic and musical excellence of the participants.

Leopold 31-year-old Magallon who had the opportunity to gain a scholarship in 2017 to run the Oboe instrument stated that it was an experience that changed his life as he had an opportunity to get to know his best level of music as well as his language and other culture that made him grow as a musician and as a person.

The academic cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry of Culture and the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Italy has already allowed 20 Panamanian students to have improved their training in the field of music.
