MiCultura pays tribute to "Chin" Carrizo

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), as part of its various activities to celebrate the Bicentennial of Panama's Independence of Spain, paid tribute to the care of Joaquín "Chin" Carrizo Núñez and at the same time emphasized the presentation of the work "A Polyface in Art and Culture" that speaks about his life and his office is by Olmedo Carrasquilla.

The event was held at the Ernesto J. Castillero National Library, located at Omar Park, where his son, Omar Carezo Castillero, gave his parchment with his name as Joaquín "Chin" Carrizo Núñez, as a man from the 20th Century and was received by his son, Omar Carrizo Castillero.

The incumbent of MiCultura emphasized that activities related to the 200 years of Panama's separation from Spain have "allowed us, as a country, to explore the legacy of men and women that throughout this time have been helping us to reside better place to live."

One of these indispensable figures, remarked Aguilar Navarro, "is the gentleman we are currently occupying: Joaquín Augusto Cartizo Núñez. A man filled with talents and virtues that put up with the community of ocú, with the province of Herrera and with Panama," she concluded.

Olmedo Carrasquilla, author of the literary work, "A Polyfacetics in Art and Culture, Joaquín Carrizo Nuñez" expressed his view that the time had come to do justice to a man born in the intestines of the interioran countryside as ocu, cradle of intellectuals, artists, musicians, teachers, poets, writers and other disciplines of knowledge.

Joaquín "Chin" Carrizo was a painter, musician, teacher, architect and geologist as an example to be followed for all, as well as a human being filled with creativity, with constant curiosity, and a person who knew how to shine in more than one discipline, stated Minister Aguilar Navarro. 

Carrasquilla added that it's the master Joaquín Augusto Carrizo Núñez, "whose sapience transformed it into prosas and musical notes so that, through our work, present and future generations will be illustrated about the production of an artist who left a track of success in every aspect of human knowledge."

The event was attended by the National Director of the Arts of MiCultura, Daniel Domínguez, families of Don "Chin" Carrizo and Father Manuel Villarreal and representatives of the media.

The public enjoyed a musical moment with the piece "Mi Pajarita," an arrangement for Oboe, Orquesta de Cuordas and Percusión by Patricia Elena Vlieg, performed by the National Symphony Orchestra's House Group.
