Jaiko Jiménez gets his second Gustavo Batista

Jaiko Aquilino Jiménez Cain, 27, with his poemary "All are equal in front of the mirror," was selected on Monday, August 16 as the winner of the 2021 version of the National Protest of Young Poetry Gustavo Batista Cedeño.

The Jury formed by the writers Magdalena Camargo Lemieszek, Marisín Alzamora Rivera and Héctor Collado chose by unanimous decision from 18 proposals to the work submitted under the pseudonym "Dust," "as the author expressed with property, appropriate syntax and knowledge of the profession, in an extended poem, where he addressed his personality corners that became the reflection of the reader."

"The poemary goes with revealing headings and its extent indicates the fundamental habit of reading. He risks, moreover, regaining and making his own one of the recurrent themes of literature: the I and the mirror, specified the members of the jury in the decision for this contest."

The members of the Jury, while evaluating the works received, highlight the freshness and candidtionality in some jobs of those attending this call. Most of the works start with strong voices and call on young writers to continue to work with their poetry, to seek firmer closures, to sustain their rhythm, to care for the use of adjectification, to avoid common places and to knit an authentic voice.
Jiménez Cain, a young poet who has been paving a very significant path in Panamanian literature in recent years. He won this contest with his work "Vagando entre occidas laberintos."

The winner will get from MiCultura a unique prize of B /. 5,000, scroll and 75 copies of his published work.

The Gustavo Batista Cedeño Poetry contest, with an extraordinary young poet who died in 1991, aims to stimulate poetic production among new generations of Panamanian writers who have been under age 35.
