Cultural Agreement To Safeguard The Traditional Board of Embarra

Panama 30 January 2020.The Ministry of Culture signed an agreement with the company Developos Dobó, S.A. for the conduct of the Barro Fest 2020, an event that aims to rescue the "Junta de Embarra," one of the most deeply rooted traditions inside the country.

According to the agreement, these initiatives are undertaken with the aim of enlisting the traditional activity as a safeguard of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

In that respect, Minister Carlos Aguilar Navarro, explain that Panama requires to strengthen those efforts that have been undertaken to maintain those cultural manifestations that identify us as Panamanian.

Barro Fest 2020 will be completely free and will be held on February 7 and 8 in the District of Pedasi, Province of Los Santos.

For this event, we are expecting the assistance of 1,200 people, benefiting this part of the region and enriching the experience of tourists in the area.

The convention was signed by the Minister of Culture Carlos Aguilar and Luis Felipe Henríquez Portuondo, by the company Developos Dobó, S.A., and will have effect during 2020.
