MiCultura introduces initiatives for tourism promotion of the country

During the development of the 5th Tourist Cabinet that was held in the District of Pedasi, Province of Los Santos, the Minister of Culture, Carlos Aguilar Navarro, advanced some of the actions that have been scheduled to fulfill the good government's commitment to tourism, a sector that generates positive dividends to the economy of the country.

The opening this week of an information stand at Tocumen airport where all cultural tourism activities will be exhibited for more than 16 million visitors to the country was part of statements by the highest authority of the cultural entity.

Further, Minister Aguilar emphasized that the museums run by MiCultura, as of December, will be hosting new schedules that have been applied since September at the Museums of History and Colonial Religious Art of the capital, where more than 4 000 visits have been registered only on Sundays with an open (free) day.

The National Symphony Orchestra with its free concerts will also come to the interior of the country. Currently, more than 7,500 people in Panama City have been able to enjoy monthly musical evenings at the Balboa Theater.

"The support for the Fest Barro, a music festival that fuses the board of embodying with 'indie rock', held in February and Sabor to Pedasi - Cultural Gastronomic Corridor, are other activities that we will support from our cultural entity," emphasized Minister Aguilar.

At this working session, led by the Vice President of the Republic José Gabriel Carrizo and with 17 government agencies, projects have been announced to promote tourism activity in the districts of Pedasi and Tonosí, including the rehabilitation of roads, improvements to the electrical service and the removal of public areas in this region with its beaches, sea areas and its folk traditions.

Last July, the National Government signed Executive Decree No. 278 of 3 July 2019, which officializes the creation of the Tourist Cabinet and will serve as a coordinating, consultative and implementing body for priority actions and main tasks of infrastructure and public services that will put into place several tourism projects that seek to achieve the objectives set out by President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen's Government Plan.
