Panama, September 9, 2026 - At an evening full of local emotion and talent, the National School of Dance celebrated its 78th anniversary at the City of the Arts with a master presentation of the work El Amor Brujo. The gala had a great diplomatic and cultural representation as well as dance authorities, teachers and families.

The commemoration was good for a double tribute, as it also celebrated the 150 years of the natalicio of the famous Spanish composer Manuel de Falla, through a project of collaboration between the National School of Dance and the Cultural Center of Spain.

The opening protocol told about the statements of Spanish ambassador to Panama, Moses Moreira Martin, and of the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, who offered his inaugural speech.

The director of the National School of Dances, Iguandili López, emphasized that the assembly combined disciplines such as classical, modern and jazz dance to offer a pedagogical and artistic course with the main aim of enabling students to get to know the great classical composers through the movement and to strengthen their training.

In his words, Minister Herrera emphasized the impact of the institution on the pedagogical and artistic training of generations of young Panamanian people, highlighting the partnership with the Spanish Embassy and Spanish Cultural Center - Casa del Soldado as a means to promote excellence, the preservation of the classical repertoire and diplomatic friendship.

On stage dazzled the students at the intermediate and upper levels of classical ballet, together with the upper level of modern dance, at a stage with high technical appraisal that completely captivated the public.

The evening also had with the acclaimed performance of the guest dancer Estela Alonso, who was ovked by the audience. As a golden brooch for the closing day, the program had a special tribute to Professor Agustín Alberto González, recognized choreographer, master and historic collaborator of the National Ballet and of the National School of Dance, in recognition of his valuable trajectory and contribution to the development of performing arts in the country.
