Panama, August 27, 2026. - The Ministry of Culture of Panama published the leading works of the National Competition for Music Composition Roque Cordero 2026 after the virtual deliberation held last August 21 by an international jury, that evaluated a total of 19 works participating in the categories Solo, Casa, Coro, Orquesta Sympónica and Ganda Sympónica.

The Jury, made up of teachers Martin Manuel Corleto Orantes of Guatemala, María Paola Ávila Martínez of Colombia and Joshua Alexander Dos Santos Marcano of Spain, emphasized technical quality, management of the musical resources and creativity present in the works submitted to appraisal.

The first place in the category Solo was Green Variations Lorca by Emiliano Pardo Tristan, under the pseudonym Tamarit. The work, written for a solo guitar, was inspired by the poetic universe of Federico García Lorca and was valued by the mastery of the instrument and the development of its expressive resources.

The camera category was awarded to Sinphonietta for an arch quintet by Samuel Ivan Robles, identified with the pseudonym Jack Aubrey. The composition was outstanding for its structure in three movements, formal treatment and idiomatic writing for string instruments.
In the Coro category, she became a winner with a carne- Vale, from Héctor Lomba Smith, under the pseudonym Elsternsohn. The polyphonic piece, written for four voices, addresses the traffic between Carnival and Lent and incorporates references to the Renaissance musical repertoire.

For its part, in the category Symphony Orchestra, recognition was for Pancarnaval, by José Gerardo Castillo Zaldivar, with the pseudonym Ofilus. It's a piano and orchestra concert in three movements that incorporates elements of Panamanian tradition into a symphony language.

The category Symphony Band was declared deserted, as the proposal received did not meet the technical and development criteria required for the award of the prize.

With this call, the Ministry of Culture promotes academic musical creation and opens up a space for recognition of Panamanian composers, promoting works that have a dialogue with national tradition and with the languages of contemporary composition.
A total of B / 18,000 balboas have been awarded with more silver medals for each of the winners.
