Panama, July 29, 2026. With a vivid folkloric display by the Regional Directorate of Chiriquí and the Ministry of Culture, its doors have been opened at the 4th National Crafts Fair at the Atlapa Convention Center, under the motto "Heritage: Ancestral Know-how."

The event brings together 677 artisan, occupying all of the spaces of the fairground in the most important artisan and cultural architecture of the country. The activity includes display and sale modules, a gastronomic corridor and the participation of 290 folklore groups during five continuous days of celebration.

At the official opening ceremony, the artisan Norma Alicia Jjuicio of Dickson was distinguished with the prestigious San José Order as "Maestra Artesana 2026," in recognition of his invaluable trajectory and contribution to the preservation of Panama's heritage, and received a special prize awarded by the National Bank of Panama.

The event was attended by the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, Mnsignor José Domingo Ulloa, ministers and vice ministers of state, artisans, government authorities, representatives of the diplomatic corps and sponsors.

In his opening words, Minister Herrera emphasized that every item exposed was the result of countless hours of work, creativity and ancestral wisdom.

He added that each of these works inhabits the cultural resistance of the native peoples, the wisdom of rural communities, the wealth of Afro-descendant traditions and the contribution of thousands of men and women that have sustained this legacy throughout the generations.

Following the traditional cutting of ribbon, the attendees began their way through the pavilions to admire the handmade talent by local artisans. As part of the fair program, they will also conduct iconic titings such as the Camisilla Competition, Highlights Crafts, Reina Artesanal, Polleres with Folk and Indumentaria, tights that pay tribute to excellence and safeguard cultural identity.

The fair will be open to the public from Wednesday, July 29th to Sunday, August 2nd, from 10: 00 a.m. to 10: 00 p.m., with a general entrance from B / .3.00, B / .1.50 for retirement and students and free entrance for children under 12.
