Panama April 15, 2026. The Panama International Book Fair 2026 will be held from 25 to 30 August at the ATLAPA Convention Centre as one of the most awaited cultural meetings in the country. At this issue, the Panama Canal will be the guest of honor, in recognition of its historic, cultural and human value.

For 6 days, the event will bring together hundreds of national and international writers and will offer an extensive program with more than 70 educational activities as well as presentations of books, workshops, lectures and spaces dedicated to children and youth.

The president of the Panamanian Book House, Orit Btesh, emphasized that this issue remains committed to education, to promoting reading and strengthening national talent. He also emphasized the importance of generating spaces for exchange among authors, students and professionals as well as the impact of initiatives such as literary meetings, specialized congresses and training activities that enrich the national cultural ecosystem.

For his part, Cultural Minister María Eugenia Herrera emphasized that "Panama has historically been a meeting place among cultures, ideas and dreams and this fair reflects that spirit and so we are proud to have this year as an guest of honor to the Panama Canal, symbol of our history, our resilience, our development and our vocation to service humanity."

He also noted that this fair event was a space for reflection and celebration of the word and reiterated that books are fundamental tools for human, individual and collective development that contribute to strengthening national identity.

The FIL 2026 program will include a diversity of offers ranging from artistic and theatrical presentations to cinema spaces, history and gastronomic literature.

The novelties feature an unpublished musical inspired by the history of the isthmus, areas dedicated to professional and contiguous illustration with international guests. Also, an honor will be paid to the renowned architect Frank Gehry, highlighting his legacy and his contribution to Panama's cultural outreach at an international level.

At the historic level, the fair will open spaces for dialogue around the Bicentennial of Panama's Anifictionic Congress, an important development in regional integration.
The event will also have important academic and professional spaces such as the National Teachers Congress, the Biblioteca Congress, copyright seminars and journalism as well as activities aimed at students and youth.

The launch press conference was attended by leading cultural and educational figures, including the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, historian Marixa Lasso, President of the Panamanian Chamber of Books, Orit Btesh and Vice President of Panama Canal Communications, Eduardo Quiros, who formed the main table of the official announcement.
