Panama, April 7, 2026 - The Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Laura Gil, and the Director of the Art Museum of the Americas, Adriana Ospina, visited the City of the Arts as part of the preparatory agenda of the 56th General Assembly of the OAS, to be held from June 22 to 24, 2026, with the aim of highlighting culture as an axis of regional integration.

Accompanied by authorities of the Ministry of Culture, representatives met with training talent in different disciplines. At the singing hall, young people offered a presentation while at the plastic arts area the work of students in drawing and painting was shown. The delegation also visited the Educational Center for Diversified Arts, with 250 students.

As part of his tour, the National Ballet of Panama presented an essay of his next performance in Mexico City with fragments of Don Quixote, including Mercedes and Espada pieces. Coco Danza also offered a sample that highlighted his performance quality.

During his visit, Laura Gil emphasized the value of the City of Arts as a regional reference for artistic training. "That's an example at a Latin American level," she stated.

In this context, a proposal was announced to move to Panama a selection of about 60 Panamanian works from the Art Museum of the Americas with a view to enabling the General Assembly to introduce an exhibition that Visibilizes national talent.

The 56th General Assembly of the OAS will be held in Panama as part of the Bicentennial of the 1826 Anifictionic Congress, strengthening the country as headquarters for political and cultural dialogue in the region.
