Panama March 1, 2026. The province of Colón lived a weekend dedicated to culture, history and tradition with the realization of Colón Tears, organized by the Reto Foundation by Colón and Canal Summer, activities undertaken at the Colón Center of Art and Culture as part of the commemoration of the anniversary of the Atlantic town.

On behalf of the National Government, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Arianne Benedetti, participated in this cultural day, supported by the institutional mission, to strengthen spaces that promote identity, community participation and democratic access to the arts.

The activities highlighted the historic and cultural value of Colón and highlighted its profound Afro-colonial and Afro-Antillean roots, its legacy linked to the development of the country and a gastronomic wealth that constitutes one of the pillars of the colonist identity.

Families, artists and cultural entrepreneurs met to share traditional flavors, music, crafts, congo polleras, black ethnic suits and artistic expressions that reflect the true spirit of the province.

A cultural vision focused at the service of the community continues to be advanced from the Ministry of Culture of Panama through CACCO, and this space became a meeting place for training, co-existence and local talent.

as part of the program, the public enjoyed the presentation of the musical work The dream of an Istmo, an initiative advanced by the Panama Canal Authority, that tells national history and highlights Panamanian pride through performing art.

The organizers emphasized that these initiatives responded to a joint vision that aims to bring culture throughout the country, promoting art as a tool for social integration and an approach among Panamanian people.
