The Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, participated as a leading speaker at the opening of the 4th Academic Days of the American Freedom Congress, in commemoration of the nancy of Simon Bolívar.

With the theme: Simón Bolívar and the transcendence of the Amphionic Congress of Panama, next year's 200th birthday, the Minister of Culture today highlighted the Visionary legacy of the Liberador and his continuing relevance to regional integration.

From the historic Salon Bolívar, Herrera emphasized Panama's role as a continental meeting point, keeping alive the vision of cooperation and understanding among American peoples.

Minister Herrera announced a significant accomplishment for the country: the recent declaration, on 12 July 2025, of the Transseismic Colonial Route as a World Heritage of the UNESCO.

That recognition honors Panama's historic role as a connector of cultures and political processes, encompassing sites of profound value as the Fortifications of San Lorenzo and Portobelo, the Archaeological Site of Old Panama and the Historic District of Panama City.

That fact resulted from more than a decade of work, not only enhances the unique universal value of Panamanian heritage but also strengthens the nation's commitment to the protection and sustainable management of its cultural legacy with a view to the Bicentennial of the Anfictionic Congress in 2026, Resaltó Herrera

Throughout the day, Adriana García from Bolivia, Joaquín Fermandois from Chile, Armando Martínez Garnica, Camilo Gutiérrez, Eduardo Duran Gómez and Dávila Pestana from Colombia and César Alarcón Costa and América Ibarra Parra from Ecuador interacted.

The 4th Academic Days were free of charge to all public and are part of the events commemorative of the Bicentennial of the Anfictionic Congress of Panama.

The academic event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama and the National Academy of History of Ecuador, was held on 24 and 25 July 2025 at the Gran Salon Bolívar of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama.
