Panama July 4, 2025 - Panama's National Ballet became a long-awaited dream tonight with the premiere of the masterpiece, "The Lake of the Cisnes," at the National Theater, with a new generation of young dancers.

The evening, filled with emotion and art, highlighted the performances of Ana Lorena Boyd and Solieh Samudio in their protagonic roles, who moved the public with their grace and dexterity.

Panama has a profound connection with "The Lake of the Cisnes," dating back to the initial visits of the Morosov and the memorable participation of legendary Margot Fonteyn, who, during his collaboration with the National Ballet, was part of one of the most iconic versions of the work in the country, expressed María Eugenia Herrera, Minister of Culture.

That complete release of four acts, based on Marius Petipa's original version, came 25 years after his first stage in 2000, also under the leadership and leading role of today's national Ballet leader, master Sasa Adamovic.

The current production of the National Ballet has been enriched with the collaboration and artistic vision of the guest master, konstantin Kosjukov, who throughout his career performed leading roles in more than 25 great classical and contemporary productions.

The institution is committed to developing a program of excellence with future plans that include collaboration with international dancers and choreographers and a continuous strengthening of national talent.

The night also had an emotional tribute to Master Víctor Mata, who was director of the Panama Philharmonic Orchestra. "A great friend of art that had recently departed. We had a great dream with him to fulfill. Music should always accompany dance," said Minister Herrera.

The public will be able to enjoy first leading figures and dancers as Satoko Konishi, Melissa Gaona, Nikolai Gorodickei, Andrea Diaz and Anna Sofia Calvo in their leading roles as well as young talents in roles of soloists and iconic characters.

That presentation also shown the enthusiasm, energy and joy of the jobs: Yahir Castro, Edgar Santamaría and Henry Daniel, recognized for his performing skills.
