Panama City, June 25, 2025 - The Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Natá signed an agreement of use and administration for the shared management of the José María Pinilla Public Library for 20 years.

The agreement, signed by the Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, and the mayor of Natá, Harry Agrazal Monterrey, aims to modernise this space and to promote access to information, reading, writing and oral expression as pillars of community development.

Under this convention, the Ministry of Culture will care for the protection of the cultural rights of the people of Natah, through the rehabilitation, maintenance and revitalization of the library as an inclusive educational and cultural space.

The Ministry will cover the operational costs and conduct training and conduct continuous maintenance of the property.

For its part, the Municipality of Natá will provide legal and logistic support and will cooperate actively with the organization and dissemination of cultural activities that strengthen local identities. Mayor Agrazal expressed his satisfaction and thanks to the Ministry of Culture for this project that will benefit children, youth and the whole community of Natá.

The Convention forms part of the statutory mandate of the Ministry of Culture to promote, preserve and disseminate the cultural heritage of the country and to create spaces that will stimulate participation, training and enjoyment of cultural goods and services.

The library thus becomes a centre of joint action and a symbol of progress, memory and future for the whole community.
