Panama, June 17, 2025. The National Cinematographic and Audiovisual Council of Panama was established today and established by Act 75 of 3 November 2020 as an answer to the need to strengthen the film industry.

The Minister of Culture, María Eugenia Herrera, or whoever she appoints, will be headed by the Ministry of Culture and by his Ministry of Commerce and Industries, through his Filling Commission, María Cecilia Arias, by the Tourism Authority of Panama, Ana Victoria Pinzzo and by the Experimental Group of University Cinema, GECU and Jorge Cajar and by civil society José Luis Rodriguez, Luis Romero and Luis Pacheco have been established and by the Festivals Network of Panama and José Luis Campos and by the Conservation of Festivals and Audiovisual Archives, Edgar Torchía have been established.

The Minister of Culture said she was convinced that cinema was a valuable tool for social, cultural, educational and economic transformation. "We believe in our creators' talent and we pledge ourselves to work with all of you so that this industry will grow and develop through time as a regional reference," she added.

"We are sure that this will be the start of a new stage for our cinematography, where creativity and teamwork will lead to Panamanian cinema at other latitudes, positioning ourselves and building a national brand recognized globally for its excellence and the professionalism of the creative Panamanian people," Herrera concluded.

The Board is an advisory and consultative body charged with analysing, recommending, evaluating, drawing up and making proposals aimed at the development and strengthening of the film and audiovisual industry in Panama and contributing to the actions necessary for its promotion, promotion and dissemination through the Ministry of Culture.

It is up to the Ministry of Culture, the Filling Commission and the Executive Board to assist with actions to develop the national film and audiovisual industry in international production and to promote necessary actions and to articulate the processes and activities related to the promotion, promotion and dissemination of the national film and audiovisual activity and language.

It should also create agreements or alliances with local or foreign strategic partners to strengthen Panama's film and audiovisual industry. It should conduct its work plan every year and review the production processes of film and audiovisual industry licences after compliance with the procedure established by the Cinema Act and its regulations.

They should review and propose the fees that have been set for the provision of services from the National Incentives Register, recommend the requirements for using the Fondo Cine Trust and recommend criteria for selection of Jury to select projects to beneficiaries of the Fondo Cine Trust, among other functions.
