"Art unites us and culture enriches us," that's the premise of the Minister of Culture, Maruja Herrera, by integrating with the inter-institutional group led by the Women's Ministry that goes ahead with the program "Growing Safes."

Referring to MiCultura's support for this program, she explained that through art and culture she values, recognizes and gives her access to its development and works to have every child and adolescent have his or her own space according to his or her age.

At the launch of the program "Growing up Safes," Women's Minister Niurka Palacio explained that this project aims at preventing physical, psychological and sexual violence among children and adolescents and at preventing pregnancy both among girls and adolescents.

A report by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) emphasized that girls and adolescents were particularly vulnerable to emotional violence, especially at the family and school levels.

The project, run by the Ministry of Women, includes the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Security and the Ministry of Health and the National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Family, and will support them with technical assistance from their institutions so that they can conduct necessary workshops to the people they wish to have an impact.

At an initial stage of the project, the target population will be children and adolescents from the provinces of Panama, Western Panama, Chiriquí and Ngäbe Buglé.

the support of the centers of comprehensive care (CAI) of the Ministry of Women, regions of the different participating institutions and local governments of these areas, as explained by the Minister of Women's Affairs, Lilibeth Cárdenas.

The remaining 2025 goal was to have an impact on about 300 girls and adolescents, with an expectation that 80 per cent of those benefiting from this programme will gain the skills necessary to prevent physical, psychological and sexual violence through workshops.
