Under the "Mes de la Danza," Panama's National Ballet, in co-production with the National Theater Board, invite the public to enjoy one of the most exciting works of the international repertoire: "Carmen," in the iconic choreographic version of Alberto Alonso.

The performance will be held from 25 to 29 April at 7: 30 p.m. at the majestic National Theater of Panama.

That stage proposal, entitled A Night of Classics, will open with the moved second act of the ballet "La Bayadera," and then immerse the public into the dramatic and emotional intensity of "Carmen."

That stage will feature a cast of first figures from Panama's National Ballet, with the special participation of the well-known guest dancer Mykola Gorodyskei.

Also, the artistic assembly has been supported by the legendary Viengsay Valdés, director and first figure of the National Ballet of Cuba and by the outstanding Repositor Ernesto Díaz, specialist in the repertoire of this version of "Carmen."

With music reorchestrated by Rodion Shchedrin, this production offers the Panamanian public a unique opportunity to meet with great works of the universal Repertoire, interpreted by national and international talent and under the guide of world-renowned figures.

CARMEN

Inspired by the famous novel by Prosper Mérimée and built on Georges Bizet's opera, Alberto Alonso's choreographic version was released in 1967 at the Bolshói Theater of Moscow with the iconic Maya Plisetskaya as his protagonist. The work broke his schemes by presenting Carmen as a challenges, sensual and free woman, in an environment that represes her and condemns her. A powerful interpretation that has become a classic of contemporary ballet.
