On January 25, 2025, Chame Cabecera was filled with color, rhythm and tradition with the celebration of the second International Mask, Dance and Tambor Festival.

That event, which was a milestone as it became an international category, was attended by leading folk groups and national and international delegations. That year, Peru was an honor guest and a special touch to the celebration.

The folklore parade, one of the most awaited moments, was headed by the delegation of the Ministry of Culture. José Alberto Sosa, head of Folklore and figure with more than 28 years of trajectory as director and folklore dancer, led the tour as an event's flag.

He was accompanied by María del Rosario Coronado de Graziani, regional director of Chame and San Carlos, with the artistic cast of Panama's National Folkloric Dance Company and its talented musicians. Together they offered a show of excellence that increased national pride.

Several folk groups from the Chame region and guest delegations brought their talent and authenticity, enriching the day with traditional dances, drums and masks that highlighted the profound cultural roots of Panama.

Besides being an artistic delight, the event also boosted the local economy by bringing tourists and strengthening Chame as a key destination on the national annual festival map.

"These events, which seek to preserve and promote folk customs, are a true success with the support of the community, cultural authorities and participating artists," Sosa expressed representing MiCultura.

Without a doubt, the International Mask, Dairy and Tambor Festival will continue to grow and place itself as one of the most important cultural encounters in the country, celebrating and sharing the wealth of Panamanian folklore with the world.
