In a joint effort to promote cultural development at the national level, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), the Association of Panama Municipalities (AMUPA) and the Association of Panama Mayors (ADALPA) renewed and signed the Framework Convention for Cultural Cooperation, which aims at coordinating actions to promote programs, projects and artistic, cultural, educational and technical assistance activities aimed at strengthening and strengthening social and cultural values in the country.

The convention lays down collaboration between the institutions to develop projects to enrich their respective jobs and to provide solutions applicable in the fields of cultural knowledge.
The aims are to organize artistic, cultural and folkloric activities of mutual interest, designed at the national level, and to disseminate cultural values at every corner of the country.

It includes the provision of technical and cultural assistance to strengthen the institutional roles of the entities concerned, with an optimization of the quality and scope of their programmes and projects.

That agreement will promote participation in seminars, conferences, forums, workshops and other similar activities that contribute to the implementation of

The objectives of the convention.
In addition, the use of MiCultura's facilities, including Cultural Centres at national level, will be guaranteed as long as they are available and required for joint activities.

The agreement was signed by Maruja Herrera, Minister of Culture, Janelle González, President of the Association of Municipalities of Panama and Miguel Batista, President of the Association of Mayors of Panama as part of the board meeting of both associations. 

Maruja Herrera, Minister of Culture, emphasized that "this agreement represents more than a formal event and an opportunity to implement concrete actions that transform our communities, strengthen local cultural management and promote the active participation of citizens."

He also emphasized that working with AMUPA and ADALPA will give us an opportunity to get throughout the country and articulate efforts between the National Government and local governments. That's key to ensuring that cultural resources benefit all citizens in an equitable manner. "

Miguel Batista, President of ADALPA mentioned that at "today, the Ministry of Culture reaffirms its commitment to culture. It's a very good opportunity to continue to enhance the cultural, folklore, art and gastronomy legacy in each of the country's recordments and municipalities. That's what aims to make citizens benefit and can be developed through art."

"We have representatives from 81 municipalities of the country and this agreement aims to generate sources of resources for artisan and entrepreneur so that they can promote these creative industries as a source of livelihood."
The activity was attended by mayors and representatives from across the country as well as by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture, Ivis Moreno. 

That convention strengthens the commitment of the national and local authorities to culture and reaffirms that cultural development is an essential pillar for Panama's well-being and social cohesion.

That cultural cooperation agreement will have a duration of four years from date.
