To diagnose the state of the buildings and evaluate the cultural programs of public libraries, the National Director of Cultural Rights and Citizenship, Katherine Bucktron, with his team, undertook a visit to several libraries of the provinces of Herrera and Los Santos.

The Biblioteca Virgilio Angulo de Guarararé and Biblioteca Hipólito Pérez Tello de Monagrillo, in the province of Herrera, are among the libraries visited.

During the tour, the director held a meeting with the mayor of the Villa de Los Santos, Raúl Montenegro, to advance the modernization of the local library. In this framework, they visited the old governorate building, a building with high potential to become a cultural and educational centre at the service of the community.

Also, Bucktron met with the mayor of Pesé District, Yecenia Alphonzo, and with the representative of La Palma, Víctor Mudarra. Both leaders emphasized the need to have spaces dedicated to recreation, education and art, such as a library and a cultural centre.

"Libraries will be place for information and knowledge and meeting points for intercultural dialogue, collaborative learning and social and cultural development of communities," Bucktron said.

That initiative strengthens his country's commitment to creating inclusive environments that promote equitable access to education and culture and thus contribute to the well-being and comprehensive development of the population.
