Panama enters the global database WIPO LEX Judgments

Panama, through the Ministries of Culture and Trade and Industries, signed a memorandum of understanding that forms part of the WIPOLEX Judgments global database, offering free access to the main judicial decisions concerning intellectual property law (IP) worldwide and disseminating the most important pronouncements related to intellectual property that are issued in different countries.

Eric Velasco, National Director of Copyright, representing the Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué, emphasized that entry to this database is a significant step, as it will allow us to share the work that, from an administrative and judicial level, takes place at the isthma and that it is key to the establishment of a culture of respect for the rights of intellectual property, necessary for the cultural and economic development of our country, where we believe that the industries related to copyright have an impact6.35% of gross domestic product.

They participated in the signing of the memorandum remotely, Marcos Alemán, Assistant Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Jorge Rivera Staff, Minister of Trade and Industries, Candica Herrera, Deputy Minister of Internal Trade, Alfredo Suescum Alfaro, representative of Panama to WIPO and Leonardo Uribe, Director General of the MICI Industrial Property Register.
