With a track record of about 48 years of experience in the field of crafts, Claudino Sandoval Robles, 76 years old, from Monagrillo, Province of Herrera, is the artisan elected by the Interinstitutional Committee of the National Crafts Fair, with a legal basis under article 34 of Act 11 of 22 February 2011 to receive the San José 2024 Decoration.

The inter-institutional selection committee was composed of representatives of entities such as the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), the Ministry of Trade and Industries (MICI), the National Institute for Training and Training of Human Development (INADEH), the Ministry of Economics and Finance (MIF), the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP), the Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente), the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) and the National Institute for Training and Training of Human Development (INADEH), and the Ministry of Education (Meduca), met at the headquarters of the Cultural Unit and Failed for Sandobles.

Claudino Sandoval in criteria as an experience of the artisan in the conduct of the artisan activity, his path, transmission of knowledge and quality, useful popular knowledge, promotion and conservation of cultural and artisan manifestations, level of artistic design in the production of the artisan work, among others, were those that earned his highest scores.

For this contest with Sandoval Robles other artisan teachers such as Heriberto Martínez and Rolando Antonio Mora from the province of Chiriquí and Gloria Lina Hernández from the province of Coclé were put forward.

The award will be awarded on June 19 at the opening of the XLV version of the 2024 National Crafts Fair (FNA) that will be held at the Atlapa Convention Center until June 23.

The contest that MiCultura holds as part of the activities of the National Crafts Fair aims to pay tribute and recognition to the path of the master (a) with an outstanding value in the field of artisan training and training.

Claudino Sandoval began as an artisan in 1973 when she was only 16 years old and began to work at Fino Fino's Retirement at Chitre as a drill and later became independent to start with the production of leather-reputed lady's bags and straps and other products that were sold in the province of Panama.

He acted as coordinator of the Herrera's Handicrafts Department, of the MICI's General Board of Handicrafts, and his initiative was to conduct the first Handicrafts Fair of the town of Chitre with the participation of artisan from different provinces.

Another of his achievements was the opening of the first Herrera Crafts Market, today La Casa Amarilla, as well as his founder of the Panama National Crafts Union (Sinap).
