Sample of tradition and culture with Fest of devils at Casco Antiguo

More than 400 dancers representing 16 folkloric groups from different regions of the country participated in the Fest de Diego, an event declared an immaterial heritage by the UNESCO, that was developed at the Casco Antiguo and that was observed by hundreds of local and foreign visitors who met at the historic centre of the town.

In this edition, organized for the third consecutive year by the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) in support of Online Crafts (Association of Creative Crafts) highlighted the participation of young and children, some with four years old, who have shown their skills in each of their presentations.

"The support we have received from the Ministry is satisfactory. That's the third time that's been achieved and has been beyond the expectations and support of the groups that have come to the call was very good because we have a varied representation," said the artisan, Alexander Alarcón, promoter of the festival.

The groups that were put forward included Sabino Durango, diablicos Sucias de La Villa de Los Santos, Guetto Cruz, Tuna Pa'ya from the Daga District in the province of Chiriquí, Crew Santa Librada, Talento Crew, Salsa Evolution, Gran Diablo Unión Chorro, Danzas María Latorre, Roots and Culture Panama, among others.

Additional to the presentations, at the Plaza de la Independencia, best known as Plaza de la Catedral, there was an artisan market, where about 20 exhibitors, among artisans, entrepreneurs and from the Sabores del Barrio program received visitors to offer them a variety of articles and accessories.

At the end of the parade, representatives of each of the groups that participated in the tour received recognition for their contribution to keeping their traditions alive and to promoting their cultural legacy especially with children and youth who are members of their groups.
