With the participation of about 100 students from public schools at Casco Antiguo as well as from the Franco Panameña Academy, Francophone Week was opened at Plaza de France.
That date was held jointly between the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the French Alliance, with participation of students from the schools Manuel José Hurtado, Republic of Mexico, the United States of America, Simón Bolívar and children from the Curundú correction.
A Gastronomic international market with the presentation of curious poems to France was the attractiveness of this celebration, with visitors and foreigners tasting from a variety of sauces from 12 countries that make up the International Organization of la Francophonie (OIF) in Panama (Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Egypt, France, Haiti, Kosovo, Morocco, Mexico, Poland and Switzerland).
Gabriel González, Minister with responsibility for Culture especially emphasized the work that Aude de Amorim, an ambassador of France to Panama and his team, have been performing as a whole and with his partners as well as with the French Alliance and with the leadership of the office of the Casco Antiguo, by their organization throughout the year for the celebration of the 100 years of the Plaza de France, thus strengthening the cultural links of both countries.
González added that "with this activity between countries, we strengthen our link with all nations and with the citizenship that is avid of new knowledge related to the Creative Economy, as is gastronomy."
"We have fulfilled our commitment to get back to cultural work, to disseminating the art of letters and to bringing about scientific and cultural and inclusive knowledge generated by our cultural sectors, and we will continue to work with them," González added.
The French-speaking week consists of the celebration of the Galos during a period of March to highlight the French language, performing artistic, educational, cultural, musical and gastronomic activities at different locations of Panama, most of them with free entrance.
