PERSONAL FROM MiCultura RECEIVES CAPACITATION TO KNOWLEY ALTERNATIVE DIABACITY TYPE

The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) through the Office of Equiparation and Opportunities conducted the training "Learning about Disability" by Anthony Latour, president of the Association of low vision Panama.

At the day, information was provided to MiCultura's staff about the proper use of the cane, the types of cane according to its color, its use and how to distinguish a person with visual impairment.

The types of batons were also explained by their color: The white cane with Red Pig, used by blind people to move with safety, and the white cane with Red Lines, used by deaf and blind people as a tool of mobility and green cane, used by people with low vision as an element of transport and symbol of their disability.

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Gabriel González, expressed "that this topic is very interesting as I have been looking at the different moors that blind people use to move with safety and that we have an awareness about how to help them with this condition."

For his part Anthony Latour stated "that low vision is the loss of visual acuity and visual field that cannot be rectified, with medical or surgical treatments, or with conventional glasses, that incapacitates them to perform daily tasks.

The specialist added that "we have to look for a vision specialist after we have sudden loss of vision, pain in our eyes, dark spots, bad color and bad and bad, and bad and bad and bad."
