The most true cultural traditions and expressions of the Province of Los Santos have been expressed for five days with a view to keeping the culture alive from old times and will bring about version 51 of the Folkloric Reunion of Canajagua that will be held from 3 to 7 January 2024 in the Macaracas District, Province of Los Santos.
That meeting, which is the one that inaugurates the annual festivals at the isthmus, is once again emphasized with the long-awaited "Drama of the Mage Kings," a legacy that has been held for more than 200 years, as well as being a staging that involves an entire community that's been preparing for months to offer an equal event for locals and visitors.
This high-track event is complemented with the traditional board of pits, where the community, children, youth and adults put up a quincha house for a family that needs a housing.
Additional, the meeting includes a number of folkloric manifestations, such as the night of violins, saloma contest, mejorana touch, seatling contest, carts parade, and the crown of the queen that this year lies on the shoulders of Milagros Nazareth Ponce Peralta.
"Come to Macaracas, participate from this event, get to know the union of a people to maintain the tradition, because what you will see isn't seen anywhere else in the country, so we are grateful to the national government through the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) and the Tourism Authority (ATP) for their support and support for this activity," stated José Gutiérrez, president of the Board of the Folkloric Meeting of the Canajagua.
For his part, Karen Peralta, National Folklore Director of MiCultura, reaffirmed the efforts that have been made from the cultural entity to support each of the initiatives that communities have to keep these traditions alive and especially its actors through audiovisual special as the capsules of "Living Treasures."
