< strong > Regional Cultural Authorities discuss economy and culture for the region's sustainable challenge < / strong >

To give an overview of Panama's cultural management programs and projects focused on the role of the creative economy for the sustainable development of the region, Giselle González Villarrué, Minister of Culture, participated in a virtual manner as an exhibitor at the regular meeting of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI).

The meeting that had been held at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington, D.C., with the participation of representatives of the countries members of this organization with the aim of presenting the benefits of how culture and creative economy meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In her statement, Minister González Villarrué shared with the members of the session some of the initiatives undertaken by the Panama Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) to promote cultural development and to achieve ODS as they are: the MiCultura Academy, the Creative and Cultural Industries Markets, the Creates Programme in Panama, the Fondo Cine and the design of a public policy that integrates the cultural dimension and creative industries into national plans and strategies.

The regent of Panamanian culture detailed each of the above proposals and how they are aligned with training and training issues in an equitable manner, as well as the implementation of government policies to promote best corporate practice and achieve sustainable infrastructure, with the example of the City of Las Artes and the Center of Art and Culture in the province of Colón.

The Panamanian representative also emphasized the importance of intercountry collaboration as the key to improving and strengthening processes among all the actors that make up the region.

The meeting also referred to the topic of artificial intelligence, where Minister González Villarrué emphasized that "it's important to have a dialogue among all sectors, to take up challenges of this technology as an information platform, and that's why we have been following a number of discussions with an intellectual property issue."

CIDI is an OAS body with the aim of promoting mutual collaboration among Member States to support their integral development and, in particular, to contribute to the elimination of poverty.
