Highlights of Turpana's poetry

With poetry, videos, children's and youth's dances at the School of Dance, we paid tribute to gunadule poet Arysteides Turpana, as part of the third anniversary of the poet's death.

The family members, the Association of Poets and Friends of the Writer, with the support of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), have been attested to his achievements and his generosity and his contributions to his literature, his cinema and his cultural management and to his best known intellectuals and his native peoples.

Through his letters, his words have shown an oral tradition and his love for the surroundings of Guna Yala and his Spanish and French.

Turpana was a great reader and teacher with a graduate degree in politics and Cultural Administration from the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) and studied cinema in Paris and worked as a film critic, writer, translator, co-director, director and research advisor at 6 film works (documentaries and short films).

Turpana was the first gunadule writer in Spanish. He was head of the Letras Department of the National Institute of Culture. Among his works highlighted Machiuita / Chantito, a poemary written in Spanish and Spanish.

The Vice Minister of Culture, Gabriel González, gave his words of welcome and his testimony as an ex-student of the poet at this event, where he received the proposal to create the "Arysteides Turpana poetry contest" for indigenous authors.

The sweet poets also announced the launch of the Dulenega Editorial. The tribute closed with the musical performance in flute and traditional gamu by master Olaidieginya.

Arysteides Turpana died on October 13, 2020 in Panama City.
