Giselle González Villarrué, Minister of Culture receives distinction at Feria de Río Tigre at Guna Yala

The Minister of Culture Giselle González Villarrué, with local authorities, opened the 20th version of the Artesanal, Folkloric, Agro and Tourist Fair of Rio Tigre, to be held up to October 15, at the Narganá Reg at Guna Yala. At this issue, González Villarrué's distinction as a champion of the fair and participated in a parade through the streets of the community accompanied by the festival's queen, Allyson Arango, his princesses and local and regional authorities.

The title of Culture, at his inaugural event, mentioned that "what you promise will be fulfilled. I'm once again feeling with families and sharing this great fair that brings about some of our culture."

"It's wonderful what you're doing, passing on this legacy tradition and knowledge to other generations, a work that's an important and fundamental part of protecting a nation's culture." He added that "I'm a friend, I feel a part of you, from Rio Tigre, thank you for making me a worthy daughter of this community."

For his part, Olmenares Quijano, president of the Feria, explained that "this activity aims to preserve our community's legacy, customs and traditions by giving them support to artisans and entrepreneurs to offer and make known their products and at the same time to revive the economy, not only from the members of Rio tiga but from several communities."

More than 30 entrepreneurs and artisans participate in this fair meeting, which highlights theand traditions of the Guna people, with agricultural exhibitions,crafts, guna dance, folk and tourist samples, among other attractions. At this inaugural event the Governor of Guna Yala, Alexis Alvarado, Eliseo González, Sahila from the community, members of the National Border Service (Senface), local artisan and entrepreneurs participated.
