The Minister of Culture, Giselle González Villarrué and the Deputy Minister of Indigenous Affairs of the Ministry of Government, Ismael Jaén, held a meeting to exchange ideas about the logistics co-ordination of the Panama and Mesoamerica Indigenous Peoples Forum, scheduled to be held on October 22 and 23, 2023, in Panama City.
Deputy Minister Jaén stated that "the Ministry of Culture has always been identified with indigenous peoples by providing support and interest in different activities."
For its part, the regent of Panamanian culture stated that "teamwork characterizes this administration. Climate change is part of the challenges that culture faces to safeguard the customs and traditions of the native peoples."
The Forum focused on raising public awareness about the risks of indigenous territories and about measures to address climate change challenges.
