To mark Sorda Cultural Week and with the motto "We Do Not Hear You but We Do Do To Communicate with You," the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) invites the general public to participate in the diversity of cultural and educational activities that will be held up to Saturday, September 23, at different locations of the country, such as museums, headquarters of MiCultura and commercial centers.
Activities include guided tours to the Museo de la Cultura Democracia, workshops for the whole family, convertimatorias, artistic performances, commercial crafts and the great closure with the Sorda Cultural Festival.
At MiCultura headquarters there will be briefings to deaf people about issues such as the History of Sorda Culture, how to apply to national competitions, process to sign up for the film industry, workshop to create short films and the rights of deaf people, among other training
While, on Saturday September 23 for the Sorda Cultural Festival, at the Plaza de la Girafa, at the Albbrook Mall Shopping Center, there will be sale of crafts, tancube and drawing workshops, dance performances, gestial chorus for the program "Special of the Orchestra Network," vernacular play by deaf actresses.
We will also have a health fair and area of experience, which will be a place where listening people with the accompaniment of deaf people can experience and experience the communication barriers that people with hearing loss experience.
Jorge Morales, Director of Equal Opportunities said that "MiCultura with this type of event promotes the inclusion of deaf people into society as well as raising public awareness about the reality these people face, how they interacted with the environment and how important they do not isolate them but include them in artistic and cultural activities at national level."
That activity includes the participation of artisans, entrepreneurs, artists and talents from the Sorda community and with the support of Panama's National Association of Sorks, Panama's Academy of Sign Language, public and private entities and national MiCultura addresses such as Creative Economics, Cultural Rights and Citizenship and national leadership of the arts.
