Twenty-five musicians from the National Network of Orchestra and Youth Chors of Panama have been united into an articulated symphony of melodies and rhythms to the Youth Orchestra of the Nobel Republic of Uruguay at an open public concert held on Tuesday, September 5, at the headquarters of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament located in the Amador area.
"It's interesting for these youth to have this cultural crossing because both countries share a common musical interest, with a repertoire of both countries as well as an opportunity to achieve the methodology and discovery of other values in the interpretation for the exchange of experiences, not only of young people but also of teachers," said Electra Castillo, Director General of the Network.
During his presentation the 55 musicians on stage merged to delight viewers with a great musical repertoire, directed by Ariel Britos, director of the Uruguay Orchestra of Sorde, who saw compositions of Latin American musicians, and among them a beautiful tribute to Panama with Toby Muñoz's piece "La paranda."
"The visit of the musicians to our country forms part of the tour that the Uruguayan group has been performing since August and has been through the U.S. and El Salvador. It also forms part of the cultural exchange actions that favor our country as they are integrated with the Iberorquestas program of which Ariel Britos is currently president," said Electra Castillo.
Likewise, as part of this cultural exchange through the Ibero-questas program, Amílcar Castillo, a violoncello student from the metropolitan module, is participating in the Luthería Multinational Workshop, which takes place for the fourth consecutive year, for ten days in Montevideo (Uruguay) and ten days in San Salvador (El Salvador) and that is organized by Iberorchestras, with the aim of training them in the repair of string instruments.
"Experiences such as this strengthen our youth's knowledge and give them an opportunity for that knowledge to be passed on to our country's young musicians," Castillo said.
