The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) revealed Thursday the name of the winners of the forty-third national competition of visual arts, Roberto Lewis in the presence of jurors and some of the participants in different techniques.
Pilar Moreno was the winner of the Grand Prix with the Relational Art technique called "The Filling Girl and Other Protests" that was chosen, according to the Jury "by the power of the process and its coherence with the visual result.
They also resulted in three other winners who are Moab Ayarza with the work "El Niño" in the Color Pencil technique, a work that highlights the skill in using a traditional technique, drawing with color pencil at an unusual scale.
The work "Timeless Panama Canal Workers" was also awarded with acrylic and charcoal pencil on a canvas and his author is Radamés Pinzzo, chosen by the power of a narrative image where the account of the construction of the Panama Canal takes up a mythical dimension.
Finally, an award was also awarded to the work "We are all children of the homeland" by author esvio Jefer with mixed technique and that according to the jury is a painting that in its flat colors and its simplified forms refers to the political tradition of the sevens.
Isabel Burgos, national director of The Arts of MiCultura detailed that the winner of The Grand Prix, Pilar Moreno will get 10,000 pat, while the authors of the three additional prize will get 8,000 pat each and the award to the four winners will be September 6 at a gala at the National Theater.
At the Roberto Lewis contest, 200 works were submitted this year, of which a total of 15 and from there the four winners were preselected.
The qualifying jury was composed of Javier Villa de Buenos Aires, Argentina, José Roca de Barranquilla, Colombia and the Panamanian María Lucía Alemán.
