With the presence of local authorities, members of the Board of Trustees, artists and tourism students, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) announced the conduct of the 50 years of the Manito Festival that will be held from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th August next at the Feria de San Sebastián de ocú, Province of Herrera.
The Folkloric event will start Thursday at 8: 00 p.m. with the crown of the Queen, His Majesty Erika Marisol González with a great show full of traditions dedicated to this festival that arrives at his Golden Wedding.
Karen Peralta, national director of Folklore at MiCultura gave details of what the Manitor Festival will offer to all attendees, noting that children's and youth competitions and adults have been contemplated with shouting, salomas, tenth, drawing, playing and dances of motima, drummer, montune and accordion contest, among others.
Also to be held, as in previous years the famous and traditional Peasant Marriage, the staging of the Duelo del Tamarindo and a tipple with several folkloric groupings
At this meeting with the representatives of the media it was announced that the educator Zoila Castillero de Castillero known as the "teacher Choly" became crediting to the décor Manuel F. Zárate, while journalist Wendy Tribaldos earned the Dora P. Award from Zárate and awarded herself to leading Folklorists under Law 40 of June 30, 2009. During the event, capsules were presented that narrated the evolution of the Festival as a folkloric fact of the hand of folklorologists, actors, founders and managers of this living heritage that came to his weddings of gold.
Students from José Dolores Carrizo School participated as guest, a place where everything began in 1967 and that have shown about the rich traditions of care with touches and dances giving more joy to the event.
