A total of 646 visitors among national and foreign students and tourists have visited the restored Customs Building of the Royal Customs of Portobelo and the Afro-Panamanian Memory Museum, opened a week ago, information about the Director of Museums of the Ministry of Culture, Anayansi Chicpacho.

Visitors include students at different levels at the Panama Preparatory School and at the Universidad Episcopal San Cristóbal detailed Chichaca.

The Director of Museums of MiCultura thought that because of the cultural, historic and tourist value, this colonial site will undoubtedly become an attraction point for Panamanian and foreign people and will be scheduled student excursions.

The Customs Building of Portobelo, a building built by the Spanish in the 17th, abandoned in 1882 and with some other refurbishment in the 1990s, was in the current administration that was implemented the restoration project valued at 3.7 million dollars financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (BID).

Visitors to this place will have an opportunity to get to know the story of people of African descent at Portobelo and also about the expressions, rituals and festive "congo" that is the world heritage of UNESCO.
