The Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) announces to Folklorists or Folklore specialists that up to June 23, 2023 at 2: 00 p.m., the call will be open for the Dora Pérez de Zárate Award and the Manuel F. Zárate Decor.

The call is open to Panamanian citizens, natural or legal persons and public and private organisations that wish to propose to their candidates (a) they can also be made at regional offices of the Ministry of Culture in the provinces and comarcas, To facilitate the participation of candidates at national level, sending the documentation to a closed and covered envelope of plastic (for the related disinfection, as stated by the biosecurity protocols) registrations may be made under Virtual or face-to-face modalities.

The Dora Pérez Zárate Award aims to recognize the work and legacy of folklorists or folklore specialists as well as of folkloric entities and practitioners of cultural expressions, who have contributed with the study of Panamanian folklores and their expressions, through professional and merit performances that help to give continuity to the vision "Zaraptists" by strengthening the development of thought and nationalist feeling through popular culture.

The Manuel F. Zárate Decor is a recognition for those who have been interested in the search, rescue, knowledge and conservation of Panamanian folklore and have been interested and respected by those who value, share and respect the different forms of conduct, habits, dances, dances, works and popular songs and other forms of popular culture.

Both distinctions are given as part of the National Festival of La mejorana, Guararé District, Los Santos Province.

With this call, MiCultura reaffirms its commitment to its cultural management mandate in the country, to evaluating the expressions of Panamanian cultural diversity and its affirmative actions aimed at protecting both material and intangible cultural heritage.
