The theme of a discussion about the population of Gardi Sugdub at Guna Yala - the first human displacement from Latin America caused by climate change, expressed by Guna activist Diwigdi Valiente, Panama will be present for the second consecutive year at the Hay Festival in Wales.

The participation of our country will be undertaken through the conduct of the Embassy of Panama in the UK and with the support of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura), where we will also have a stand at the cultural pavilion of the festival, where we will have crafts with courtesy of the Ministry of Culture and with Panamanian books and coffee.

The famous festival will be held in Wales, UK from 26 May to 5 June and according to figures based on the first version will bring together about 600 international exhibitors, more than 100, 000 face-to-face assistants and about 2.3 million digitally.

Hay Festival is one of the most important festivals of literature and exchange of ideas in the world, bringing together prestigious personalities, writers, Nobel prize winners, novelists, scientists, politicians, historians, environmentologists and musicians who share ideas and discussions of interest to society as a means of talking.

Diwigdi Valiente is an advocate of sustainable tourism, works to spread the impact of climate change and sea level rise in his community, living mainly on the coastal islands of Guna Yala. He founded the organisation "Burwigan," meaning "children" in kuna to defend the community and invite artists to help document the impact on the community.
