< strong > MiCultura and Comarca Embera Wounaan established an agreement to safeguard cultural heritage of the indigenous community < / strong >

The Ministry of Culture and the Comarca Emberá Wounaan have established for the first time a framework convention for cultural cooperation that aims to coordinate and facilitate technical actions for the promotion, development, implementation and implementation of programmes, projects and activities to achieve the integral development of citizens and the enrichment of culture.

The signing of this agreement between MiCultura and the local congress Emberá Wounann was undertaken by Giselle González Villarrué and the general cacique Leonides Cunampia Dojirama, at an event that also had the presence of the deputy minister, Gabriel González, regional caciques and members of the congress, with as its headquarters the central house of the community of El Salto on the banks of the Chucunaque River.

The local dances, the wardrobe with its multiplicity of colors and its examples of its crafts adorned the event, where the general cacique Emberá Wounaan, Cunampia Dojirama expressed his gratitude to the authorities of MiCultura for signing the convention and emphasized how important it will have to Visibilize and preserve the work of the two ethnicities that share the region and how they contribute with their culture and traditions.

El Salto Chucunaque () is an indigenous community that is located about five hours by car from the capital town and to get to it we have to cross the Chucunaque River in small pawns that are conveniently run by local inhabitants.
