To celebrate the date of the Panamanian Artisan, that's March 19, the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura) organized for a week activities aimed at training, seizing and evaluating the work performed by these manual arts workers.

Esther Pérez de Herrera, national director of MiCultura's crafts, aims at training artisan and public understand the importance of evaluating these Panamanian people and that their work that's "a legacy, that's an important element for the country.

During this week, training, forums and festivals and other free training activities were organized with the aim of enabling artisan to gain tools and skills that will help them to enhance their business and have an opportunity to participate with their products at Macrobest, the Identity and the Crafts Market at Casco Antiguo.

There was an exchange of experiences with areas of "Digital Marketing," "Graphic Design" and with the participation of the Expressor, Raquel Adsuar, who, from Spain, talked about "Inputs for the World," an element of great visibility within our pollera.

The artisan also received lectures where they were taught about issues such as "The Heritage of Crafts" including legal issues about replicas of goods and furniture of historic and archaeological heritage as well as laws protecting the artisan.

The week closed with an Artesanal Cultural Forum at the Anita Villalaz Theater where issues such as Cultural Rights, as established by the General Law of Culture, and Crafts as an Intangible Heritage and Marketing and Crafts Statistics, were addressed respectively.
